Aspiring to achieve our year 11 students completed their PPE in Art this week. Having been given the topic of ‘identity’ for their theme students showed transferable life skills by independently researching artists to develop awareness of styles that would eventually influence their final compositions.

Using their art knowledge and skills to communicate ideas in response to this theme students then spent 10 hours crafting inspiring pieces in a range of genres. This outstanding student work demonstrates the emphasis of our GCSE Art, Craft and Design course on experimentation in the use of materials and techniques and in interpreting and expressing personal ideas.

As the final GCSE is based on 60% personal portfolio and 40% externally set assignment, meaning that the subject is 100% coursework based, this PPE was a robust assessment of how our students are already excelling within this subject.
