The English teachers are always encouraging students to read widely in order to improve their vocabulary, punctuation, grammar and writing techniques. These skills are needed for all 4 GCSE English examinations and preparations start early.

One area that is a real focus is encouraging students to read non-fiction articles such as newspaper articles, autobiographies or journals.
Each half term, I will also be sending students a short non fiction article to read to again broaden their knowledge and promote the importance of reading different texts.
For this half term students in Years 7, 8 and 9 have been sent a newspaper article based on a triathlon whilst students in years 10, 11, 12 and 13 have been sent an article based on the environment. To read these extracts click the links below:
