RSE in KS5 CDC time

RSE in KS5 CDC time
This week in Sixth Form, I’ve spent time visiting several classes during CDC time and have been impressed with the high standard of teaching and learning taking place. It’s been great to see students so actively engaged with their studies. In particular, during my visits to Year 12 CDC rooms, I saw some excellent discussions centred around employability. Students were exploring the key skills required for the workplace and thinking critically about how these skills will benefit them as they begin to consider their future career paths. The conversations were thoughtful and reflective, demonstrating how seriously they are taking these opportunities.
In Year 13 groups, I saw a strong focus on careers, with students showing clear motivation and purpose. They were working through case studies, discussing real-world scenarios, and applying the skills they have developed over their time in Sixth Form. Many of them are already thinking ahead to life after school, considering how they can use the knowledge and experience they’ve gained to succeed in their future careers. The level of maturity and focus was outstanding, with students fully engaged in meaningful discussions about their next steps.

It has also been particularly encouraging to see how students have been approaching their RSE lessons this half-term. The maturity with which they’ve handled these important topics has been really impressive, with students actively participating in discussions and reflecting on the importance of forming healthy, respectful relationships, both in school and beyond.

Both Year 12 and Year 13 students are making the most of the opportunities they’re being given to develop themselves, not only academically but also personally and professionally. It’s been a pleasure to see the commitment and engagement across the Sixth Form.
