It was incredibly impressive to see the raked seating in the Main Hall packed with the largest number of Sixth Form students ever for their first Welcome Assembly of the year. With more students than ever before applying for prestigious places on our huge variety of courses on offer, it is another indication of how popular our school and Post 16 provision is becoming year on year.

Assistant Headteacher Ms Silla gave a motivational and inspiring start to the year and talked about the recent Olympics, comparing the important legs of a relay race to the journey through Year 12 and 13. Each leg is different, yet hugely significant with the different challenges and obstacles to overcome.

She spoke about the importance of starting well, developing excellent habits and making use of the resources and support on offer – aiming to finish well and celebrate great success.

She also encouraged all the Sixth Form students to remember their responsibilities as role models for younger students and encouraged them all to think about applying for the many and varied student leadership opportunities on offer throughout the school. SIxth Formers are also able to actively contribute through the Kindness Matters programme which sees our young adults supporting all subject areas and the local community around them in such positive ways.
