Quilted delights from Our Year 10 Artisans

This half term our Year 10 textiles students have harnessed their creative prowess to design and print their own fabric, transforming it into stunning quilted toiletry bags. Eager to infuse their personalities into everyday items, these students embarked on a mission to create something unique and personal.

From dainty floral patterns inspired by nature to bold geometric shapes and music inspired print designs, the fabric designs were wonderfully diverse. Once the designs were finalised, we used a modern printing technique called sublimation printing, to transfer their creations onto high-quality fabric.

The students skillfully layered the fabric, adding a padded and textured dimension to their designs. Quilting not only enhanced the aesthetic appeal but also added some durability, turning the fabric into a sturdy material suitable for everyday use.

The students developed valuable skills in using CAD to design, printing, and of course sewing, honing their abilities to turn their own beautiful fabrics into tangible, functional items. The project also fostered a sense of community and collaboration as students shared ideas and supported each other throughout the creative and making process.

Well done Year 10!
