Update on Major Refurbishment and New...

It was a real privilege to welcome Sally Glossop – County lead for The Graduated Response at Hertfordshire County Council and Sharon Coubray – County Lead for Speech, Language, Communication and Autism to Bushey Meads School on Wednesday morning of this week. The purpose of the visit was to discuss the progress made with the £1.1 million development of the Specialist Resource Provision and see first hand the superb refurbishment of A Block which will include a suite of classrooms and small teaching/office space for our Modern Foreign Languages Faculty. Our discussion also covered aspects of our staffing model and training and development programme linked to the opening of the SRP in September 2023.

They were both delighted with the progress the school has made and huge congratulations goes to Rachael Coombs our BSJT Business Manager and Gary Campion our BSJT Site Manager for all their work behind the scenes to make this exciting project a reality. The photos show the incredible space that has been created downstairs inside A Block. This space includes brand new classrooms, a number of office spaces, small intervention rooms, a skills based resource zone (complete with fitted kitchen and IT resource area), a state of the art lift, reception area and multi purpose sensory room.

The SRP programme across Hertfordshire has been a vision of Sally’s for the last 13 years and it was quite an emotional day for her to see the reality of it taking shape here at Bushey Meads. We know the resource base will be an incredible addition to our school environment and will undoubtedly benefit our hard working staff and many children – those coming to Bushey Meads over the coming years, as well as those currently on roll.
