Hertfordshire Heroes Christmas Art...

In 2020 one of our talented Year 7 students Jessica in 7 Willow entered the prestigious Hertfordshire Heroes Christmas Art Competition and her winning artwork was printed onto festive cards sent to armed forces personnel working away from home that year.

The competition, to recognise heroes, was organised by Hertfordshire County Council on behalf of the Hertfordshire Armed Forces Covenant Board known locally as Hertfordshire Heroes. Children across the county were asked to design a poster sending Christmas messages to armed forces personnel serving away from home over the holiday period. The competition was particularly competitive that year, with a record breaking 2000-plus entries representing 37 different Hertfordshire schools.

Jessica’s stunning portrayal of a member of each of the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force all saluting next to a pile of presents and a decorated Christmas tree, made a strong impression on the competition’s judges. As well as receiving a certificate, Jessica won a day of adventure courtesy of Northwood Headquarters, the UK’s principal military headquarters based in Hertfordshire, taking place next month.

We are really proud of her fantastic artistic achievement and hope she has a great day out to celebrate her award.
