It was fantastic to see all the year 11 smartly dressed and working enthusiastically during their taster day. The faculty put on all the subjects offered post 16. I managed to drop in to see what most of the subjects were doing.

My favourite was childcare, probably because I was given a packet of mini party rings, left over from the activity taking place. Students were using the rings, jelly tots (none offered to me!) and strawberry laces (none offered to me!) to learn about a child’s brain. Philosophy were debating whether lying is ever justified and business were thinking about what businesses they could create to fill a gap in the market. When I popped into tourism, they were planning holidays to far off exciting places – leaving me dreaming of sun and summer! Back in reality, I also visited psychology who were looking at the make up of criminals, history that focused on equality and politics who were assessing our PM’s recent Peppa Pig speech and Wednesday’s PM questions. I ran a well-attended law session looking at crime, especially the offence of murder.

 The faculty were delighted with the conduct of the students and look forward to welcoming them in their classes next year.
