Social Creatures

It is said that we humans are social creatures, this means we enjoy spending time together and communicating with each other. Over this past year, we have had to miss out on being with people that are special to us; it could be friends, grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles, family friends. Some of us have not been able to give some of our loved ones a lovely hug, or even hold their hand. All of this inspired me to write this poem as I know, one day soon we will be able to again.

Together We Know

The urge to hug is not unsaid

The need to kiss contained instead

Surges and waves torment our soul

Who do we turn to, who do we hold?

Finding a moment, a moment to share

Looking within, been looking a year

Finding and knowing and knowing and hid

Forgotten, reminded, distant not rid.

Feeling the loss, and oh how it swells

Each and all are filling their wells

Glints of light shine, blue, green, brown

When the wells pour forth and tears run down.

Come, look at me, and know this will pass

Reach out, look up, together hold fast

A toss, a turn but forward we go

Together in this, together we know.

The urge to hug is not unsaid

The need to kiss contained instead

Surges and waves torment our soul

Who do we turn to, who do we hold?

Finding a moment, a moment to share

Looking within, been looking a year

Finding and knowing and knowing and hid

Forgotten, reminded, distant not rid.

Feeling the loss, and oh how it swells

Each and all are filling their wells

Glints of light shine, blue, green, brown

When the wells pour forth and tears run down.

Come, look at me, and know this will pass

Reach out, look up, together hold fast

A toss, a turn but forward we go

Together in this, together we know.
