Heartstopper is a young adult graphic novel series written by writer and illustrator, Alice Oseman. The series follows Charlie, an openly gay student at the fictional Truham Grammar School and Nick, the soft-hearted member of the school’s rugby team, as they meet, become friends, and ultimately, fall in love.

The Heartstopper series has become so popular at Bushey Meads that our Learning Resource Manager, Ms Turton, has had to order additional copies to meet the high demand! Read some of the reviews of Volume 1 of Heartstopper from our wonderful BMS students:

Nicole in 7 Ash:

Boy Meets boy, boys become friends, boys fall in love in this amazing book! You follow the story of Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson on their journey to love. In this book you will find many LGBTQ+ characters, such as Charlie Spring, Nick Nelson and Tara Jones. I recommend this book if you are interested in love stories or books that show support for the LGBTQ+ community. There are also 3 more graphic novels showing problems that Nick and Charlie come across. The best book I’ve read all year! *****

Chloe in 7 Maple:

Heartstopper Volume 1 (Boy Meets Boy) is an LGBTQ+ novel about life, love, loyalty, and mental health. Charlie is a highly-strung, openly gay over-thinker, and Nick is a cheerful softhearted rugby player. Friendship blooms quickly, but could there be something more? 5 stars!

The entire Heartstopper series is available from the LRC!
