Looking back at ‘Live Lessons’

Being a teacher during this pandemic has presented many challenges, but the main challenge has been not having the interaction with our students.  Personally, this is paramount in order to deliver quality learning experiences, the chance to engage in discussions, getting live feedback from students, having a dialogue.  The news of live lessons being launched at Bushey Meads was welcomed with excitement and enthusiasm, as well as some trepidation.  This was a completely new way of delivering lessons, engaging with students and monitoring progress.

With the help of an excellent CPD programme to launch the live lessons, we were able to quickly equip our toolboxes with an array of innovative and effective technologies to ensure that lessons were delivered at a high standard.

My personal experience of delivering live lessons has been a very positive one, the students have been engaged, made progress and most importantly we’ve had fun along the way!

Being able to connect in with students on a regular basis has also had mutual benefits in terms of feeling connected during this difficult time.  I am confident that some of the excellent tools that have been used for live lessons will feature in our physical lessons moving forward, resulting in these newly acquired skills enhancing our face to face lessons which can only be seen as a positive!
