Year 8 Stem Day

We were absolutely delighted to welcome a number of organisations into Bushey Meads to work with our year 8 students introducing them to possible careers in Science,Technology, Engineering and Maths on Thursday 1st February 2024

We had many varied workshops …

SOCO – Forensic Science led by Mrs Blowers who worked as a Forensic Investigator. Students helped investigate a murder scene using forensic techniques.
Established for over 180 year, Rendel who have supported our STEM enrichment day for many years, has been involved in the design, engineering and construction of infrastructure projects. They have extensive experience in bridges, highways and electrical projects. Rendel sent along two young engineers to talk to our students about their careers and helped our students to use their initiative and build bridges from spaghetti and marshmallows.
Align JV Engineering, another company who has supported our STEM Day, are well known for their involvements in building the HS2.  They also discussed careers in engineering  and with the aid of paper and straws  challenged our students to build towers and bridges
Our Science, Technology, Maths and IT departments also put on some amazing workshops too
The day was a resounding success with students thoroughly engaged and learning from the activities.
