The Basecamp Launches: Empowering Online...

Last Thursday, over 200 students joined us (in the rain) as we launched the BMS BaseCamp programme: an exciting initiative designed to encourage all students to regularly use online platforms as part of their independent learning outside of lessons.

During the launch, with the help of our wonderful Sixth Form leaders, students across KS3 and KS4 were introduced to the various platforms on the BaseCamp, including Seneca Learning, EduCake and Dr Frost Maths. They were also informed of the massive benefits of consistently engaging with online learning at home: students can make almost two grades of additional progress by using SAM Learning daily for 20 minutes!

In addition to the academic benefits, students with the highest engagement on platforms in the BaseCamp will have the chance to win up to £30 in vouchers each term, and the opportunity to be invited to a rewards trip at the end of the school year.

Our students thoroughly enjoyed the launch, enjoying the chance to trial some of the online platforms as well as ask the Sixth Form leaders questions about the BaseCamp programme. As well as enjoying the music and sweets, students were invited to guess how much money the school has invested in online learning platforms this year – many were not close to guessing the £11,000+ that is spent annually in ensuring that our students have access to the best online learning platforms to accelerate their progress.

As a school we are passionate about supporting our students as they aspire to achieve. I am excited to see how the BaseCamp will contribute to his important aim.
