It was fantastic to see a packed hall on Wednesday 19th June with Year 12 students, parents and carers to discuss the various avenues open to students upon completion of their studies at Bushey Meads School Sixth Form. The evening was hosted by the Sixth Form team of Mr O’Kelly, Mrs Timotheou and Mrs Crayden who were all on hand to give advice and guidance.

The evening opened with a talk from Kate Carter from iSales about the opportunities on offer from Apprenticeships, particularly within the local area. The Apprenticeships discussed ranged from Higher Level to Advanced Level in an array of different sectors. The benefits of a degree apprenticeships were also explored.
Mrs McIldowie, Careers and Work Related Learning Coordinator, talked through the advice and support on offer from Bushey Meads School and the alternatives available for students to consider if they are not sure what their next steps are.
Mr O’Kelly discussed the university application process in detail and how to best access UCAS online. He also showcased the multiplatform programme Unifrog which the school has purchased to aid the process of researching and applying for university placements or apprenticeships. Parents and carers of Year 12 students have also been given access to this fantastic tool in order for them to be able to fully support the journey of their child.
Finally, Leon Harris spoke about the benefits of attending university and explained how the finance system works across the country.
Many parents and carers commented how useful the evening was and stayed at the end to ask specific questions to the experts on hand.
