The new year is traditionally a time when students and parents set new year’s resolutions with many opting for changes to bring about a healthier lifestyle. The January lockdown and the closure of schools, gyms, leisure centres and sports clubs has taken away many of the sports and leisure activities enjoyed by so many. In this time it has been great to see so many students engaging with physical activity at home completing online workouts, regular exercise in the outdoors and sports tasks in the garden. Each week the PE and Health faculty have been setting weekly tasks and challenges to try and motivate and inspire the students via the google classroom. We continue to reinforce the government recommendation that all children should be doing 1 hour of physical activity a day for their own physical, mental and social health.
This can be very difficult with remote learning but we hope as many students as possible are switching off for parts of every day to complete some exercise. Well done to all those students who have made such a great effort to stay fit and active in these challenging times. Here’s just a few examples of students both at home and in school completing their weekly exercise.
