At the beginning of March, the launch of Time to Shine marked the commencement of a journey for our Year 11 More Able students. This session served as an overview of students’ post-GCSE aspirations, accompanied by an introduction to the Time to Shine program itself.
We had the privilege of Miss Silla, our Assistant Headteacher, providing insights into the Sixth-Form center and its opportunities during this session.
The event was completed with revision tips tailored specifically for GCSE preparation. These tips ranged from effective study techniques and time management strategies to maximize performance in the upcoming examinations.
Over the last three Fridays, ‘Time to Shine’ sessions have taken place during CDC, kicking off with Ms Court, Head of English, who presented top tips on how to ‘Shimmer’ in English. Ms Court focused on the key qualities in writing that top students demonstrate in the exam. Miss Atchuthan, Lead Practitioner of Science, explained how in all three sciences students should focus on reaching the top grades. Mr Wood, KS4 Coordinator of Maths, shared with Year 11 the top tips from the exam board that highlighted aspects of the paper that sometimes prevent the attainment of top grades. All three sessions looked in detail at mark schemes and shared with students what differentiates top-grade papers from others.
I hope our students take the opportunities of these sessions to achieve the grades they deserve.
