Last Friday marked an exciting milestone in our cross-phase drones initiative here at Bushey Meads School. We were thrilled to host year 6 pupils from LRS as they joined us for an engaging Drones Flying Session, as part of our ongoing collaboration across the Trust.
The session was expertly conducted and led by our outstanding Computing STEM leaders Joshua, Jamie, and Sameer. These young leaders showcased their skills and passion, inspiring the next generation of learners.
Throughout the session, the year 6 pupils demonstrated exemplary behaviour, showing politeness and enthusiasm in every activity. They eagerly grasped the basics of drone control and even delved into more advanced maneuvers like mid air flips!
One of the highlights was witnessing their navigation skills as they successfully maneuvered drones under challenging obstacles, such as flying under chairs, a feat that impressed everyone present.
As the session drew to a close, the students posed insightful questions about drones and their potential applications. They expressed deep inspiration by our STEM leaders and eagerly inquired about pathways to becoming STEM leaders themselves.
We are delighted that we will be welcoming the pupils back next Friday for an advanced drone flying session. This next phase promises to be even more exciting as they delve deeper into the world of drone technology.
