Sports leadership is a key aspect of the PE provision at Bushey Meads with leadership units being delivered in core KS3 PE and also the Level 1 Sports Leaders course being run at KS4. In addition the KS5 CTECH Sport and Physical Activity group cover a unit on Sports Coaching and Activity leadership. This week on Monday Bushey Meads was the organising school for the District Division 1 6-a-side tournament and it was great to see the 8 members of the CTECH group volunteer to referee the matches. They did a great job and really grew in confidence as officials as the tournament progressed. The boys are now starting to prepare for their 6 coaching sessions which they will deliver later in the term. The PE Faculty really appreciate the support provided by the students which enable these types of events to take place. Well done and thanks to Cian L, Frankie R, Ellis A, Aarav K, Hammaad K, Tom B, Abbas K and Matthew K.

After the group fixtures both teams managed to qualify for the Semi-Finals by both finishing Runners-Up in their groups. However defeats for both sides saw the two teams play-off against each other in the 3rd and 4th place play-off. In a very close game BMS B ran out 2-1 winners. All the boys can be proud of their efforts with some really pleasing football being played throughout the tournament,.

SWIMMING – Mrs Cooper
It was a privilege to take 4 of our talented swimmers to the District Swim Gala on Wednesday 26th January. P.Tapre (yr9), M.Worley (yr11), K.White (yr11) P.Kovar (yr12) who all swim competitively out of school, travelled to Habs boys to represent the school, in multiple races, in what was a very competitive gala.
With races coming thick and fast it was an entertaining evening which really showcased the talent in the Watford District.
All of our swimmers picked up podium places which is a great achievement considering the high standards, with several national swimmers in attendance.
The highlight was first place in the senior girls 50m butterfly for K.White in a time of 32.23 and the title of district champion to go with it. A great achievement considering she is one of the youngest swimmers in the age category.
Hopefully we will be able to participate in future years and I look forwards to hearing of any other competitive swimmers who may also be part of our school community
