INDOOR ATHLETICS
On Thursday the Year 7 and 8 athletics teams competed in the Hertsmere round of the County Indoor Athletics Championships. Students competed in a range of events including 2,4, 6 and 8 lap races as well as team relays on the track and a series of field events including the standing long jump, standing triple jump, shot and speed bounce. The students put in some great efforts with special mention to the Year 8 boys team who recorded some event wins and an overall 2nd place. Well done to all those that took part.:

RUGBY
Year 7 Dis
trict Development Rugby Festival @ Watford RFC
Mr Cartledge
Date : Tuesday 12th March 2024
Result : Won 1, Lost 3
Squad : J Zulberg, D Isles, E Ashton, E Silver, D Williams, T Colby, A Folkes, C Holt, A Nikkhahkholari, V Rolfe, P Payen
Comment : The year 7 boys had their first experience of competitive rugby when they took part in the Development festival hosted by Watford Rugby Club. Despite having only minimal previous experience in PE and extra-curricular practices the boys acquitted themselves really well winning their first game v Reach Free and then suffering narrow defeats to Cr
oxley Danes, St Michaels and Grange Academy. Special mention to A Folkes for his outstanding tackling, D Isles for a brilliant all round performance and J Zulberg for his game understanding and all round play. This will give a platform for the boys to build on in Year 8 and we look forward to more boys joining the group next year.
BASKETBALL
Year 10 Boys v Watford Boys (Friendly) HOME Mr Cartledge
Date : Monday 11th March 2024
Result : Lost 66-10
Scorers : J Coady 4, S Patel 4, K Arikat
Squad : J Coady, S Patel, K Arikat, G Guainiere, A Worth, J Gladdy, M Wong, M Tregear, S Williams
Comment : The Year 10 boys played an end of season friendly against a very strong Watford Boys team and although losing heavily worked extremely hard right to the end.
FOOTBALL
Senior U18 Boys v Dame Alice Owens (County League) AWAY Mr Cartledge
Date : Friday 8th March 2024
Result : Lost 5-1
Scorers : K Parekh
Squad : H White (Gk), D Tegzes, A Ali, K Parekh, K Larkin, A Chaudhry Shamas, G Eldridge, K Tinriover, C Tegzes, I Dahmani, L Rose, J Patel, A Gates, A Wahabdeen
Commended performances : A Chaudhry Shamas, L Rose, C Tegzes
Comment : Another tough fixture for the Senior Boys football team in the County League against a strong Owens side. The boys played well in the first half and were unlucky to be 2-1 behind at the break The first 10 minutes of the 2nd half saw the boys create 3 excellent chances which they failed to convert and a strong finish by the home side saw 3 late goals. Lots of positives for the boys to take into the next match.
NETBALL
Year 8 District Tournament A
WAY Mrs Cooper
Date : Wednesday 6th March 2024
Result : Plate Quarter finalists
Squad : Y.Khan, E.Yeboah, B-M Barnard-Collins, A.Permeti, S.Verrey, M.Hurtya, J.Isles
Commended performances : Everyone! Although they don’t like having their photos taken!!
Comment : The year 8 team acquitted themselves really well in what was a really tough draw in the district tournament. Playing their 5 group matches one after the other, without rest and with only the minimum 7 players, they really did draw the short straw. However they put up a fine display of resilience to make it into the quarter finals of the plate finishing in third place in their group. Victories over the Reach Free and RMS B as well as narrow defeats to Parmiters and Habs B saw the girls face Aldenham in the quarter finals. This was a tough match as Aldenham play 2
leagues above in the regular league. However this was probably the best game the BMS squad played, moving the ball well down court and making timely interceptions. It wasn’t to be though and as the BMS team started to tire their opposition took advantage and pulled away to book their slot in the semi-finals. A valiant effort from the Year 8 team with lots more to come next season. Well done girls on a really successful campaign!
It is essential that students have the full correct PE kit for all lessons. This includes shinpads and black /yellow socks when participating in football lessons and also a pair of white sports socks for all other activities. Students will be reminded when activities change. Trainers are a compulsory piece of PE kit and should be brought to EVERY PE lesson.
Students not bringing the correct kit will instantly receive consequence points.
Girls should be wearing plain black shorts which are longer than the length of their PE shirt or hoody. Leggings should be black sports leggings and not see through. Black tracksuit bottoms are also permitted.
ALL jewellery should be removed prior to the start of the lesson, including earrings, and hair should be tied up.
For any parental enquiries about any aspects of PE contact the Head of PE and Health Faculty Ashley Cartledge [email protected] . For any specific issues related to Girls PE and girls fixtures contact Sarah Cooper [email protected].
