Growth – Theme of the Week this week
It was great to join the Year 7 assembly this week led by Assistant Headteacher Mrs Greenwood and hear her important messages about Growth.
We all grow throughout our lives and during our teenage years when we are at school, growth impacts on so many different aspects. These include developing new friendships, building relationships within and beyond the school, going through puberty, taking on increased responsibilities and coping with the pressure and challenges of new learning and GCSE and A level examinations, as well as growing into new opportunities and careers beyond school – that’s a lot of growth!
At Bushey Meads we do a lot to support our students to grow well – reminding them of the 3 Rs of Respect, Relationships and Responsibility – core values which will stand everyong in good stead as they grow throughout their lives. We have our Keys to Success and Mrs Greenwood encouraged the students to pick one aspect of the keys to develop and grow in to be an even better learner this term and beyond.
We also have an enriching RSE, PSHE and Careers curriculum offer at the school which fully compliments the main curriculum across all aspects of learning and helps all students grow well in terms of their character and skills.
Finally Mrs Greenwood encouraged all students to continue to adopt a growth mindset – always being willing to try new things, to not be daunted by set backs as when the learning is hard that is when we truly grow and develop. Having resilience is key to growth and becoming a successful person – something we want for all our students.
