A Great Starting Point for Making Progress

It was great to spend some time in Mr Futerill’s Year 7 Drama class and see students carefully assessing themselves against clear key performance indicators.

They were guided through them by the teacher and asked to RAG them Red Amber Green according to the security of their achievements against each one. Students then self and peer assessed themselves, identifying clear next steps to improve their work.

The ‘purple pen of progress’ was then used to clarify one area for their focus as they aim to improve their work over the next few weeks. The sense of smartly moving their work on in their practical lessons was helped by the clear systems of marking and feedback employed.
