It has been another action-packed start to the new half term, whilst we once again adjust to the colder and shorter days, but nonetheless there has been plenty of celebrate at Bushey Meads School within the Humanities and Social Sciences Faculty.
From the fortnight commencing the 8th November our first Marking and Feedback fortnight began across the school, and it was a real pleasure to wander into classrooms across the faculty to see how they have been utilising marking and feedback efficiently, as well as finding creative new ways to implement low stakes quizzing to help embed student knowledge ahead of student Pre-Public Examinations (PPE’s). As seen in the numerous examples (below) a range of different methods have been trialled to ensure student success, from gap fills and key concept quizzes to self-marking assessments using a mark scheme. These methods are aimed to build confidence and resilience in students in the hope that, when it comes to the real thing on exam day, they will feel fully prepared.
As well as Marking and Feedback fortnight we have also celebrated numerous successes across the Faculty with our faculty High Achiever nominations. A huge well done to the following students who all achieved a High Achiever award from members across the Humanities and Social Sciences Faculty:
