Best Way to Start to the Day

Having recently introduced our new CDC ‘Reading Fridays’ it has been really powerful to see first hand the impact of these dedicated sessions. For 20 minutes the whole school falls silent and everyone is reading – students and staff alike. Reinforcing the importance of literacy and the need to expand our verbal and written vocabulary and indeed our writing skills overall (something that underpins all learning and achievement) these sessions make for a great start to our final day in school nd a really positive end to our week in Character Development times across our learning community.
As parents and carers do remind your children to always carry a reading book in their bag every day at school and really make the most of these 20 minute sessions on Friday mornings at BMS. Do also encourage them to regularly read for pleasure at home and to make it a daily habit.
