Celebrating Success with the GAP Programme

Building on the success from last year, I am pleased to share that 120 students from KS3 to KS5 participated in the GAP Programme during the summer holidays. By engaging in various academic and enrichment tasks, these students not only avoided the “summer slide” but also earned a range of rewards, setting themselves up for an excellent start to the academic year.

One of the highlights was our trip to Thorpe Park on the last Thursday of the half term. Fifty eight students who completed 15 to 20 GAP tasks over the summer enjoyed a day filled with thrilling rides and beautiful, sunny weather. Students thoroughly enjoyed the excitement of the park, going on various rides and spending time with friends, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

As part of their achievements, students earned R5 reward points for completing 15–19 GAP tasks and R6 rewards points for completing the GAP 20 tasks. These rewards reflect the hard work and dedication students put into the programme during the summer holiday. We will also be presenting GAP Achievement Certificates as a token of recognition for their commitment and perseverance throughout the summer holiday.

A special thanks goes out to our staff who supported the GAP programme and to the parents and carers who played a vital role in supporting their children’s journey through the GAP Programme. Their encouragement and involvement helped students stay focused and engaged over the summer, making this experience even more rewarding.I am pleased to share a few comments from parents, whose support has truly contributed to the programme’s success.
“The GAP Programme was a wonderful experience for our son. Not only did it keep him learning, but it also helped him develop a strong sense of accomplishment.”
“We’re so grateful to the staff at Bushey Meads School for organising the GAP tasks. They kept our daughter busy and learning throughout the summer holidays.”

The GAP Programme provides invaluable benefits, from preventing learning loss over the summer to promoting a strong work ethic. Students return to school feeling prepared and motivated, ready to tackle new challenges with confidence. By staying engaged with their learning during the holidays, students enter the academic year with a positive mindset, setting themselves up for success.

The GAP Programme will be running again next summer, with even more rewards and opportunities for growth. I am looking forward to seeing more students take part, and we are committed to making the programme bigger and better each year.
