In the last week of the Autumn term we invited former pupils into school for our annual Alumni event. We are so proud of our students and endeavour to keep in touch so that A level results day isn’t the last contact we have with them. We were delighted with the response and attendance. We also received lots of lovely messages from former students who couldn’t attend this time due to university or work commitments, but were keen to be included at the next Alumni event.

Our visitors were firstly given tours around the school by some of our current Sixth formers. As we had a few former students who had left over 9 years ago, they really noticed some of the great changes that have taken place on the site since they have left, with most commenting on the new buildings and of course our superb Bushey St James Gym. Everyone then gathered in the Canteen for refreshments and a chance to catch up with each other and some of their former teachers. The atmosphere was brilliant – and it was amazing to hear all their stories about university life and the world of work. We also had several members of staff who attended in an Alumni role as they were former pupils here.

We are so pleased that our former students continue to be part of the Bushey Meads family and know that our Alumni programme will keep growing. Owen, Akhil and Nathan who all left in 2022 and are in the 2nd year of their university studies told us how much they are enjoying their very different courses (Primary school teaching, Computer Science and Environmental Science).
